Called to Serve

"Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work ... and faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work." - D&C 4:3-5

4/20/2013. “Eatin panuchos!!! i didn´t really take other fotos this week but last week I sent a ton so it´s all good. “

hola familia! pues toda va bien aqui en valladolid. we have been working a lot. i really love being a missionary and teaching people. it has been really interesting in this change because i am training too. i think i have learned more in these past 5 weeks since i received my son than in the rest of my mission. it is really great. we should be finally having another baptism this week. as far as cool stories go, nothing too out of the ordinary happened this week. the only thing that was funny is that when i got here, my reputation of eating a lot spread really fast so all the hermanas started making a lot of food when we would come. and now my comp doesn´t really eat the food the members make here because he doesn´t really like it so now a lot of them are starting to give us a ton of spaghetti haha other than that, there hasnté been anything too new happen in this week. i am just loving it out here and i´m really falling in love with the families here. love is so important. this is one thing i have always admired from mother. that she always has stressed having charity and has always showed it. it is somehting that helps us to really strive everyday to do our best. also as mormon taught, true love casts out all fear. this sunday i gave a talk here in sacrament meeting and it was weird because i hadn´t talked in front of people like that since my last farewell, but it was really good and i talked a lot about how charity is so important. there are a lot of ways we can show this pure love of Christ in our lives. look for ways to serve someone everyday. look for ways to make people smile everyday. one of the things i love doing is when we walk in the streets i like saying hi o buenas tardes to everyone i see with a big smile and it always makes them smile. it helps me feel good, but more importantly, it helps other people smile. mormons are a happy people, so share this happiness with everyone else. and as you guys do that and as you serve people, your love for God and for your semejantes will grow a lot.

well i´m glad everything is going good with the move. that’s great about cameron and brock! i can´t believe brock has 16 years. that means michelle will have 16 too!! que raro!1 haha but i´m glad everything sounds like its going smoothly for yall. i love you very much and have a great week. i love everyone one of you very much.

mother, tell anne that what ever is easiest for her. dear elders are nice because then i can have more time to read them. but i like hearing from her. and tell here thanks for writing. and families are very imporant. i always tell people that eternal families are one of my favorite parts of the gospel. well i love you a lot mother and have a good day.

michelle, that sounds fun with your friends and with daddy. and there are some huge iguanas here. i´ll take a pic of a big one for you this week haha and are you still having fun with the cats. i see that daddy says they are messy hahaha well i think i liked all the talks in general conference but elder hollands about faith was really good. a lot of people who are born in the church wonder if they really have a strong testimony or if they really know if this is true or if they just go to church because it is  what their parents taught them to do. well there is a way that you can know that this is true. read moroni 10 and pay attention to vs 3-5. maybe do this as a family night activity. because we  should all do moronis promise everyone in a while to strengthen our testimony. well i love you a lot michelle and be safe.

daddy that shounds fun with michelle and cameron and brock. here is some thing for the griffins.

well brock now you have 16 years and from what my dad says, you drove a big truck that´s pretty cool. and i´m gald you are still going to seminary. keep reading the scriptures and praying everyday. and go to church every sunday too so you can take the sacrament because when we take the sacrament, we renew our convenions bautismales and we can recieve the holy Ghost. also the sacramental prayers say that when we take of the sacrament, we promise to remember Christ. so if we don´t take it, we are saying that we won´t remember Christ. this is something so imprortant so always remember go to church every week. and Cameron, i am really happy for you. don´t be nervous about the mission. everyone is nervous. the thing i would suggest to you is to really pray about your decision and really gain a strong testimony of the book of mormon. also read preach my gospel. i am soo happy for you cameron! haha missions are crazy but they are crazy in the best way possible.  it is something where you honestly will never feel more tired, but also you will never feel more full of the spirit and more happy. just prepare your self well by going to mission prep, living the gospel and reading the bom.

and tha´s what i have for camerone and brock

so that´s cool you’re going to ali’s farewel. i love you a lot daddy and thanks for being a great example for me.
tell chelsy i got her dear elder. tell her that when i got the iguana, it reminded me of lake powell with the rattle snake. tell her i´m glad jp is going well and tell her thanks for all the support and help to get me out in the field again.

adios familia

well it sounds like all is going well back at home. all is going well here too. we are working a lot and the hard work is really starting to pay off. well I don´t have too much to say this week except that I read something interesting in 4th nefi this morning. it was that the hate that laman y lemuel had for nefi was so strong that it was the thing, along with the pride of the people, that led to the destruction of a people that at one time was completely converted to God. at it´s high point of this civilizations conversion to the gospel, it says that they were so faithful and blessed because they loved God so much. so i guess what this tells me is that if we want to prosper in the land and to be truly converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ, we need to love God with all of our heart might and soul. to avoid being destroyed and to avoid falling into unbelief, we need to love our family and not be prideful. well, i don´t have much to say today, but thanks for all that you guys do for me. i love you very much.

mother my comps first name is elder.

michelle, that´s way funny about the gato. hahahahahahahahaha sts jk i love ya sis

daddy thanks for the tax stuff. and sorry you have to work so much. well i´ll try and send some more pics adios love yal this pic is one that didn´t send through last week I think. it was at conference.

well I took some other vidos of me eating a whole habenero in one bite and of me crying because of it but there are limits on the size of stuff we can send. but I hope this one works. we went to get a hair cut and so we were walking and we saw a bunch of iguanas. usually they all run a way but there were two big ones and one of them ran a way but the other one just went in the rocks so I grabbed its tail and it was so strong! I pulled with all my strength and I just ended up ripping its tail off haha well I hope it sends through adios I guess the file is too big but there is the story for you.

(Janel’s note:  Just in case you were wondering ….  Iguanas do lose their tails as a survival method so the iguana should have been ok).

It´s nice to hear from ya´ll.  I think from now on I will do the 25 word thing like the hermano said in his talk. so all of my letters will be 25 words from now on.... haha jk  well this week went good, we had a baptism and we were going to watch conference on saturday, but we couldn´t because our investigator didn´t show up so we had to leave and work. so for that I didn´t hear where the new temple is being built. but that is super cool it will be built here in utah in cedar city!!!! that´s so exciting for the Drews now there is one in brigham city, cedar city and bountiful haha well then we went to tizimin on saturday night to watch the sacerdocio and it was pretty good.  I love conference.  I was so excited for this year. on sunday we traveled to tizimin again (about 45 minutes in camion) and we took some investigators. I am really growing to love the people out here. we are especially working with a family called the hau lopez family. they are super good. I love it out here. well I´m glad you guys are having a fun time with aunt yvonne.  I pray for her and I am very proud of her. tell her that I love her. well as for a message this week, this past week I listened to President Uchtdorf´s talk on lamentations. it´s really good. I would suggest reading it because regrets are one thing that no one ever wants. wow there are just so many good talks. it´s funny because I still want to study the ones from last october and april but now I have even more to study. modern revelation is awesome haha well I love ya´ll and be safe. and I will always be loving you always.

4/1/2013 The importance of bringing the lost sheep back into the fold.

3-22-2013 "Hna Margarita and our bautismo last week, Karla."

3-29-2013

3/31/2013.  "There two hermanas want to be misioneras so I let one of them wear my gafet haha."

Hello my family. how are you guys doing? I guess we are writing a little earlier this week then we usually do so I don´t think y´all have sent the email out haha but it´s all good. this week went really well. we didn't have a baptism, but we are preparing some people right now to be baptized and it´s amazing to see the changes that take place in their lives. for example, one of the people we are teaching is a young lady that has 11 years. when we first started teaching her, she never wanted to read but now she basically wants to read everything we have and pray every time.  I love seeing the changes in the lives of the people.  I feel like I have a different perspective on things also.  I am so grateful for this opportunity that I have to help others.  I am always amazed at how through helping others, we grow too a lot.  I love this work and I love the gospel.  I am really grateful for the atonement.  I know that Christ atoned for the sins of everyone.  I love the scriptures that talk about how Christ is always inviting other people to come unto him and that he is here to help everyone.  He suffered for everyone and everyone has the opportunity and the right to use the atonement to not only avoid suffering for their own sins, but also to be healed and to me made perfect. this invitation of Christ, venid a mi, is one that I have felt is especially strong for those that have fallen. there are a  lot of people in our families, neighborhood, ward, etc. that have felt the atonement at one time in their life, but have now fallen away for some reason or another. we have the duty of helping them to feel the spirit of God and the love of Christ otra vez en their lives. although there may be billions of reasons why someone has fallen away, there is one universal solution for everyone. and that solution is the atonement of Christ. many times they feel like that they can´t return or that it has been too long, but Christ never said that. he never said to go away, or that there was no hope. he was always inviting people to come unto him and he still has his arms wide open to receive every single child of God.  I know that there are a lot of people that have fallen away and they are the ones that we need to help. I have realized the  great joy that one can receive as one helps someone return to the church. I know yáll can receive great joy and many other blessings as you help the lost sheep return to the good pastor. well I don´t think I have much more to say this week for yáll but I hope everything is going good back there in utah I love you guys.
