Called to Serve

"Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work ... and faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work." - D&C 4:3-5

9/23/2013. THE SACRAMENT IS SO IMPORTANT

Janel's Note:  David wrote about our new little puppy so I thought it would be fun to add a picture of the darling little puppy with Michelle.  Scott found her on KSL.  Michelle named her "Jessie."

hola familia. well first of the day got changed so thanks for sending me an email. second off, how come no one told me about clark!!! ?? make sure you tell me his email addresss where is he going and mckenna is going on one too? wow that is so crazy. when does Clark leave and make sure you send me his email address too. and also keep me updated on Mckenna. well i am super happy to hear about all the new changes. its pretty cool to see in the pic that mother took of trevor that you can see number 44. except the fact that he isn{t playing. i guess no one wants to take 44 again haha. and that is pretty cool about the puppy too!  i was just thinking about how i would like to have a dog again haha and then i saw the picture and that’s pretty exciting. well this week was good. we didn{t really get a chance to work and this week we will be training other missionaries and we have to go to costco to buy a bunch of tablesso the week will probably go by pretty slow and i will feel a lot more tired. i ususally feel more tired when we don’t do a lot of proselyting . but the training was really good. if there was one part i could share with you it would be about the santa cena. if you guys have the chance, read the part in pmg about keeping the sabbath day holy.  it some pretty big promises there and some pretty big consequences. it is in chapter 3 lesson 4 when it talks about the commandments. and also you should read in john 6 where it talks about Jesus being the bread of life. he says dont work for things that perish, but work for the things that give you eternal life. the sacrament is so important. it is one of the most important ordinances that we do in our lives and we have the opportunity to do it every week. try to get to sacrament meeting prepared and go with a broken heart and contrite spirit and every week you will have a super strong experience. well thats all i have to say to you guys. love ya lots

mother that is super cool about the pictures.  It reminds me of the pics you took when i played. my last comp was from florida. elder zack tayloris from atlanta.

michelle that’s a pretty dress for homecoming. I’m glad you liked it. one of my favorite foods is frijol con puerco. i actually do like beans. rice...only if they dont give us a lot of food then i will eat it. i am tryihng to learn how to makethe food so i can make it when i get home. there is alot of good food here but it is some of the greasiest food in the world. like most people say that normal mexican food is greasy, but even mexicans that come here from other parts say this food is even more greasier haha well adios

papa, thats cool about the atonement. i love talking about it. in jacob 4 12 it talks about learning about the atonement you should learn about it more because it is the most important part of our doctrine. and i like the long letters so you can write longer ones if you like. i guess sometimes there’s not a lot to be said but all well. let me know how the players for the raiders are doing like darren mcfadden and tyrel pryor. adios

love elder coffman

hola familia. well i am super glad to hear that cameron got off good. what is his email address. I’d really like to write him. is he doing good_ i am really proud of him. it sounds like everything is going good.

i am kinda afraid to send pic s home because my comp said that a virus got on his card and erased all his pics. so i will see what happens with that. right now we are writing in a pretty sketchy place so i won’t send any. i didn´t really take any pics this week anyways.  this week was really good for us.  it was raining a lot everyday and it is kinda different here because all the water never drains so there is always water in the streets and there are a lot of big pot holes. it’s a lot worse than utah roads believe it or not haha we had some pretty good experiences though. this ward is really good at working with the missionaries and i am really greatful to be here. our ward mission leader is really cool he is a great example of the importance of magnifing your calling. y’all should look up jacob 4 to find out more about the importance of that. actually i think it is jacob 1, but i cant remember. the whole book of jacob is really good so just read it even though jacob 5  anyways our house is new though so we don’t have anything. just a table, and hammocks so we have to study on the ground. it kinda hurts but beggars can’t be choosers i guess haha. we should have tables this week and hopefully we will have a fridge too. we have to wash our clothes in the sink though so that’s a little different but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. as long as the plumbing works good i am not going to complain about anything haha i am glad i am a zone leader too. i like training people and teaching. i hope i can have the opportunity to serve as a leader in the church all my life.

so my area is in merida. its not close to chichin itza. its about 2 hours away. its in the eastern part of merida. you can find it if you look up villas de oriente.  just so you know haha

so something that i just started thinking about as i was laying down in my hammock last night is how the raiders are doing_ could y’all give me some updates on whats happening in the nfl and in college football. i would really like to know. that is good btown is doing good. and really interesting about how they are throwing more.

this week we saw the importance of the gospel for the families. we are teaching a family of 4. the kids are all bigger like 30 years old but they still live in the house and are not married. last night we were talking with them and we found out that they have just felt so much better as a family ever since we started talking with them. it is a miracle. they are really excited and we are hoping to baptize them in 2 weeks.

well thats about all i have to say.

mother i will keep taking them in high resolution. i keep putting on sunblock and i dont wear my retainer very much anymore but I am going to start it again. that is really good story from stake conference. i'm glad you guys could go.  i like hymns a lot. and i am really excited for general conference.

mc, for service, you can pray for opportunities. service can take a lot of different forms. like helping your parents, saying something nice, smiling at someone. sometimes we think that if we can’t do something big, it won’t make a difference so we should not do anything at all but even small things will help. there is a cool quote i read that I would like to share with you. it is that being nice to people always makes me happy and when i am happy i am nicer and then before i know it, i am in the middle of my best day so far. i read it in a book. well i am glad you are trying to serve. you will be blessed a lot for that.

daddy that is an awesome story. the church needs more examples like that. i am so glad you followed the spirit. it feels so good like ammon describes. i hope he gets baptized. so are you getting in better riding shape yet_ are you going to keep riding in the winter time_ and thats pretty crazy about how he took a street bike like that. well i hope you keep having missionary experiencias. i am really glad to hear from you and you are doing good. keep me updated on the football stuff.

hola well yesterday after baptizing our neighbor, i got a call from the zone leaders and i got told that i will be leaving caucel and i am going to go to a place called chitzin itza. It’s not the ruin it’s just called that. and i spelled it wrong i think. but i was really sad-suprised because i really liked my kid elder peterson. and i thought i would end the training with him but it is ok. we left a lot of good work for him. now i will be a }zone leader. i am excited for that. it sounds like everything is going good there. we had some problems with the transfers and rain and all that so i don’t have a lot of time but i{ll send some pics. i am going to send them in lower quality so i can send them faster. well i love you guys a lot adios

Try and do what Jesus did. he taught parables and applied them to the ways the people lived, like seed sowers, travelers, etc. and i am glad that things are going well. keep working hard on the missionary work it is the most important that we can do especially for our own family. you should read alma 26 and there is a great scripture there that talks about how to share the gospel efficiently it is in verse 22.  it has turned into one of my favorites. i was just called to be zone leader so i got moved out of caucel and into another part of merida. my comp is going to go home this change so he’s really experienced. he’s another american called elder taylor.  things will be going pretty good. i am loving the work and i love you a lot adios
