Called to Serve

"Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work ... and faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work." - D&C 4:3-5

Good afternoon to the parents of some wonderful missionaries.  We are the Sparks, we are from Arizona and we are Temple missionaries serving in the Merida Mexico Temple.  We have a few occasions to work with your sons and they are awesome young men.  We enjoy feeding the missionaries when we can and today was one of those wonderful chances for us to do that.  We had 7 elders over to our apartment for a meal and we had a great time, we fed them and then let them feast upon home made ice cream American style with all the trimmings.  (we fill their stomachs and they fill our hearts)What a blessing it was for us to have such great young missionaries in our apartment and to share some time with them and feel of their strong spirits.  Each of you should be proud  of your missionary, these elders work hard, keep the rules and have love for the elders as well as the members and investigators. Oh, just in case you have forgotten, they can eat lots of food.  Thanks for making the sacrifice to send your sons on missions, they truly bless lots of lives in the Yucatan and we are 2 of the lives they are blessing. They are each one healthy and happy and having the times of their lives, loving every minute of their service and making people happy.

well i didn´t bring my cord with me so no pics this week. i took some though so don´t worry about that. today we ate with a temple missionary. it was really nice of them to feed us. it was really good. you´ll probably get a email from them because they took some pics. and i really liked it becasue they had bbq sauce. i hadn´t eaten some bbq sauce for a long time so it was really good haha. it wasn´t sweet baby rays though. well this week was really good. i would like to talk a little about the pruebas that we pass through. if  you guys study the stories of Joseph Smith, Job and of Alma and the other groups of people when the Church was being started in the book of Mosiah 17 to the end of the chapter, you can see that there are alot of different reasons why we pass through trials. sometimes we bring them upon ourselves, sometimes they come through the acts of others, or sometimes the Lord just decides to let  things happen to test our faith. yall should study these stories in the bible, bom, and d and c- chuch history. i am prompted to write about this because we have some great examples of people who have great faith. one family is about to get sealed in the temple and they are passing through many hardships. no work, hurt knee, temptations, etc. but they have their eye single to the glory of God. they have an eternal perspective. another one is going to get baptized, the husband is giving her a hard time, but again, she has a eternal perspective on life. this is what we need. the hard ships that we pass through are short. life is less than a blink of the eye in the grand scheme of things.  but even giving in one time can have eternal consequences if we don’t repent. now the last example is with us. we left the house and we were walking to our first appointment but the hermana called us and said she couldn’t talk so we went to the back up plan, wasnt there. long story short, we did 10 back up plans and it was hot and humid and we were walking the whole time. but it was just a test of our faith. we could have given up. we could have listened to the adversayr, but we kept working and we found a golden investigator. never give up. God is always listing to our prayers. sometimes he is slow to answer the prayers of the unrightous, but he will listen. yall should read the stories i told that are found in the scriptures and try to apply them to your lives.  i’m glad everything is going good for you guys and we will talk to you next week.

wow thats a great message from cameron. i am really glad he could give a good talk. i am really proud of him. today we ate with a temple missionary. he was talking a lot about how he used to go fishing too and i really was thinking about how we would fish.  a lot of people will never change unless they are invited to do it. Christ said to peter, do you love me 3 times. he was directing this to him because he started fishing again after working. Christ was asking Peter, do you love me more than fishing_ of course peter said yes. so Christ gave the famous answer of FEED MY SHEEP. now i would like to apply this to our lives. as a representative of Jesus Christ, i would like to ask you,  if you love Christ. Do you love more than all of the activities that we feel our lives with . if your answer was yes, then feed his sheep. 99 sheep are in the fold, but there is one sheep who has lost his way.  Feed His sheep. in as much as you have done unto these the least of my bretheren, you have done unto me. remember the temple covenants and your baptismal covenant.  Feed his sheep. please i have had dreams about this. i don´t know why but it has been something that is on my mind for a long time. if you work all your days preaching repentance and you bring one soul unto God, how great will your joy be with that soul when we meet before God. now if you bring many souls unto God, how much greater will your joy be.  Remember, by small and simple things, the Lord saves many souls. it doesn´t have to be big, but it has to be something.
